Matthew 21
In this chapter we see Christ’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem. He was being recognized by many as the Messiah that He is. However, the priests weren’t convinced, and when Jesus told them who He received His authority from, they were quick to deny the reality in their hearts. I pray that we would not be like the priests and deny the truth that God clearly presents to us.
Job 11&12
Amidst Job’s unknowns and seemingly unfair circumstances, he does what his friends seemed to miss. He sets his focus on God. He realizes that God does not have to explain Himself, for He is greater than all things in the earth. Job rightly recognizes God’s superiority.
Genesis 42&43
It should be an example to us that Joseph does not use his new position to punish his brothers severely for their crimes. He is in fact generous to them. He gives them their money back. Though he is testing them, his actions seem to be one of mercy.
Isaiah 61-63
Even though Israel continually rebelled against the Lord, it says that His love was steadfast. We can take heart as we struggle with sin that God is faithful to us. He will continue to to love us even as we fall. He may chasten and discipline us, but this is out of His steadfast love to us.
1Corinthians 11&12
Paul is clear that there must be unity in the body of Christ. We all rely on each other in order to successfully fulfill the work of Christ. It is important, as one navigates his own body of believers, that we all must work together and recognize that no one is more important to the work than someone else. God has given us each unique gifts with which to serve Him, and it is not right to devalue or elevate certain people based on what they have been given.
1Samuel 13-15
Saul’s pattern of disobedience led the Lord to revoke his kingly line. He proved himself to not be a man after God’s own heart. We must be mindful to be obedient to the Lord. He may set us up in positions of leadership, but we must be faithful to him as we serve in those places. Our goal should be one of obedience.
